FAQs
Sparring is where fighters are forged — not through chaos, but through awareness, control, and strategy. Join Super Sweet Science Boxing’s Sparring Program and experience what real technical growth feels like.
Do I need experience to spar?
Yes. All students must demonstrate control, defense, and fundamental proficiency before joining sparring sessions. If you’re new, start with our Beginner or Intermediate classes first.
Is sparring dangerous?
Not when done correctly. Our sessions are strictly controlled and focus on learning, not punishment. Coach Jason supervises all rounds to ensure safety and professionalism.
Will I get hit hard?
Sparring involves contact, but the intensity is adjusted to each student’s level. The goal is technical exchange, not knockouts.
What if I’ve never sparred before?
If you’ve never sparred, we’ll begin with light, controlled drills to help you develop comfort and composure. You’ll only move to live rounds once ready.
Do I need my own gear?
Yes — all participants must bring personal sparring gear for safety and hygiene. Coach Jason can recommend high-quality brands that meet competition standards.
Can women join sparring sessions?
Absolutely. Sparring is open to all experienced students who meet the technical and safety requirements, regardless of gender.
How often should I spar?
For most boxers, once or twice per week is ideal. This allows for recovery, reflection, and skill integration between sessions.
