Our Beginner Boxing Classes are designed for anyone who wants to build confidence, fitness, and solid fundamentals — even if you’ve never put on gloves before.

Coach Jason “The Boxing Nerd”, each session focuses on teaching the sweet science of boxing in a safe, encouraging, and structured environment at Modern Warriors Gym in New Westminster.

Our Beginner Boxing Class Structure

Each class combines technique instruction, mitt work, light drills, and cardio-boxing exercises — giving you the perfect mix of skill learning and sweat-driven fitness.

Class Structure

  • Level: Absolute Beginner to Novice

    This class is designed specifically for first-time boxers and newer students who want to learn the fundamentals in a structured, supportive environment. You don’t need any experience — we’ll teach you everything from stance and footwork to defense, timing, and confidence-building drills. If you’ve never thrown a punch before, this is the perfect place to start.

  • Format: Small Group (max 8 students per coach)

    We keep our class sizes intentionally small — no more than eight students per instructor — so every participant receives personal attention, technical feedback, and correction. You’ll train in a semi-private environment that allows for both group motivation and individual improvement, ensuring quality instruction in every round.

  • Customized Conditioning & Skill Drills

    Tailored pad work, defensive drills, and cardio/strength circuits designed to enhance both performance and endurance.

  • Duration: 60-minute classes

    Each class runs approximately 60 minutes, combining warm-up drills, technique breakdowns, mitt work, and conditioning. The format keeps energy high and learning progressive — you’ll leave every session feeling stronger, sharper, and more skilled.

  • Schedule: Multiple sessions weekly (morning & evening options)

    We offer multiple beginner class time slots throughout the week, including early-morning, after-work, and weekend sessions. This flexibility makes it easy for both students and working professionals to stay consistent without disrupting their daily schedule.

  • Equipment Provided: Gloves & Hand Wraps available for beginners

    Don’t worry about gear — we’ve got you covered. First-time students can borrow boxing gloves and hand wraps at no extra charge. Once you’re ready to continue training, our team can recommend affordable, high-quality gear options tailored to your needs and comfort level.

  • Do I need any experience to join?

    No experience is required. Our Beginner Boxing Classes are designed for complete beginners. We start with stance, movement, and defense before advancing to combinations and light drills.

    Not at all. Boxing will get you fit. We tailor each class to your fitness level so you can build strength and endurance safely over time.

  • What equipment should I bring?

    Bring comfortable workout clothes and a water bottle. We provide gloves and wraps for first-timers, but you can bring your own if you prefer.

  • Are these classes safe for beginners?
